A Family Tradition for Over 50 Years

The Hogeda family has been in the restaurant business for over 50 years. In fact, the restaurant industry is so deep in their roots some would say that's how the family started. Ofelia and Henry Hogeda,Sr. fell in love while working at the original Zentner's Steak House in Rowena. After marrying, they opened their own restaurant on Randolph St., where Franco's Café stands today. Together they ran their business every day from 8 a.m. until 1 a.m. Henry, Sr. would go in to prep in the morning, then go work as a carpet layer, and then come back and help with the noon rush. Being the go-getter he was, Henry Sr. made sure every plate was served warm with the freshest ingredients. As their family grew so did the staff and their business. As young as they can remember, their children were bussing tables, dishwashing, and seating customers. Over 50 years and 8 restaurants later, The Original Henry's Diner stands as a landmark in San Angelo and a testament to the Hogeda family tradition. Henry and Ofelia's children continue their father's dream and legacy of serving delicious Mexican American food with warm Texas Hospitality.
